The Cape House style is one of the most prominent typologies from the American post war era. Our amazing clients (and now good friends) gave us the opportunity to study how to rethink the style, using the Cape’s simple form and layout as a base for something entirely unique. We look forward to more renditions of this project in the future.

Exterior finish study
Expanding the home with a second floor and a rear addition presents an opportunity to significantly increase living space. Furthermore, reimagining the architectural style during this process will create a cohesive design. This approach will result in a home that feels completely renewed, rather than simply expanded.
The new kitchen takes advantage of the volume of the existing cape and has vaulted ceiling with new dormers for extra height and light.
Upstairs the Primary Bedroom makes the most out of the steep roof lines for additional breathing room and character.
